Brown Smokey Eye Tutorial

Hey Guys! This is going to be a long post so I’m going to jump right into it. This tutorial is probably not a tutorial because I am no mua but will hopefully give you some ideas and inspiration of the products I’ve used! Especially as this look has a LOT of products and they are both high end and drug store. However not all the products need to be used for this look at all so do not worry! So lets get going with a list of all the products used:
Nivea men’s – After shave balm (Sensitive)

Benefit – Porefessional primer

Morphe – 35W palette (From Beauty Bay)

Urban Decay – Naked 2 and Smoky

Rimmel – Wake me up concealer

Rimmel – Brow this way clear brow gel

Maybelline – Age rewind concealer

Urban Decay – Original Primer potion

Benefit – Hoola bronzer

Sleek – Face contour Kit (Light Medium)

Bobbi Brown – Blusher in the shade Maui (May no longer be available)

Urban Decay – Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner (Midnight cowboy)

Benefit – Watts up highlighter

Mac – Mineralize foundation (NC15)

Mac – Lipstick (Kinda Sexy)

Benefit – Brow zing (Light-Medium)

Clinique – Lash Power Mascara Long-Wearing Formula

Rimmel – Stay mate powder

Mac – Fix plus

Real Techniques – Miracle Complexion Sponge

Real Techniques – Various brushes

Morphe – Brush set (From Beauty Bay)

Eco tools – Bonzer brush

Phew that took a while! Okay so I first applied the UD primer potion all over the eye and applied a transition shade (1) all over the lid and into the crease. I then apply shade 2 which is slightly darker. And again I applied this shade all over the lid and into the crease with a slightly lighter hand. After each new shade I blend blend blend (and blend again) with a clean big fluffy morphe brush (from the makeup brush set). I then applied shade 3 just into the crease to start darkening things up.

I then applied my favourite shades from the naked 2 palette and smoky palette which are Tease and Whiskey. I applied tease into the grease as its a b-e-a-utiful blending shade. Whiskey was applied just to the outer corner of the lid and very slightly into the crease. Now this is an unnecessary step as you could use darker shades from the morphe palette but I love these UD colours and they were perfect for this look! When I’m applying these colours into the outer corner I take very little product on the brush and with a very light hand do small circular brush strokes. I build the product up rather than applying it all at once to avoid the struggle of blending out big O’mess out. I then took a black eyeshadow called blackout eyeshadow from naked two palette and applied this like a thin line of eyeliner, using a morphe brush to smoke it out. I then applied radar from the naked two palette over all over the lid with my finger until the dark outer corner. Finally I put just a teeny bit of UD’s eyeliner glitter in midnight cowboy on the lid (because who doesn’t love glitter) and thats the lids done!

So to start off the face I primed with the porefessional by benefit on my T zone and then Nivea men’s aftershave balm on the rest of my face. FYI this is a GREAT primer (watch Nikkie tutorials on youtube) and its like £4 and lasts forever. Seriously, buy it. Any who I then use my RT buffer brush and applied my foundation, Using my RT miracle complexion sponge in bouncing motions to make sure its all blended nicely (If in fear, just blend gurl). I then used my maybelline concealer under my eyes in a triangle shape dragged down to the nose and also used my rimmel concealer in on my forehead and nose. And you’ve guessed it, I used my real techniques to blend that out.

I then used my Dior powder brush (at least I’m guessing its a powder brush..) and applied the Rimmel stay matte under my eyes and in my T zone to lock that concealer in place. For the contour I used my RT sculpting brush to apply a very light layer of my sleek contour under my cheek bones. I then went over that with my Hoola bronzer and my eco tools bronzer brush on the cheeks, forehead, the bridge on my nose and under my chin/jaw. I then applied my blush using another morphe brush. I applied Benefit’s highlighter on the top of my cheekbones above the blush and also used the highlighter from the sleek palette to my nose, my brow bone, and my cupid’s bow using my RT contour brush because I love dat glowwww. I then kinda cleaned up my brows with the benefit brow zing and also my rimmel clear gel.

To finish off the eyes I blended whisky under the eye and applied a cheap black Kohl eyeliner in the water line, and also blended this slightly to create a smokey look! finally I applied my Clinique lashes to my top and bottom lashes and thats the eyes done!

Finally I basically drowned myself with Mac’s Fit plus for that dewy glow and applied Mac’s kinda sexy on my lips, and thats the look done!!

I hope you enjoyed this post and like if you want future posts with looks like this!

What’s your favourite Eyeshadow Palette?

Hats xo

  1. Definitely the Maybelline one (not so sure on rimmel) it’s definitely thick coverage but I wouldn’t say it goes cakey as I have dry skin too! I find if I add a primer under it goes on so smooth and my skin is softer-I used the maybelline fatigue effect one for this and it’s super cheap 🙂
